MAJOR update...it's been forever.

After briefly scanning through the last couple of entries, it is ridiculous how much has happened to us, honestly, a lot of struggle and heartache. But a lot of good, too. Stronger than ever, Horacio and I are now finally able to say we have a decent footing in our new home, Austin, TX. Hopefully, with more frequent postings and up-to-date musings, a more accurate slice of our lives can illustrate how two lives can merge--even in a new city--and it can be a good thing!

Here are some highlights: (Another huge event that happened was when my dad and sister helped move, but I will post again for that...maybe in an entry called "family", because H's fam will be here this weekend, and I'll be sure to snap some pix.

Here is us eating some corn on the com before the 4th of July Fireworks...this was such a fun day!

My dear friend Emily came into town for a visit before her imminent move to Serbia :(

Horacio and I have been really serious about starting our own business in the near future, and here are some headbands I designed...a start. Unfortunately, I need to be super serious about these and crank 'em out...for them to matter.
Photobucket

Hehe...got this guy to model. Sportin' his new haircut from Bird's.

And last but not least, Ana & Gilbert got married June 26th!

Beach Day!

Today, both H & I had the day off...me cuz of Swine Flu, him to use up his vacation days...we decided to go to South Padre because--to be honest--it might be one of the last times we get to. Now, not necessarily being huge beach bums, we could still enjoy a little sun!

The kite that was flying above us when we were drying off.

Austin: Take 2 (Job Fair Edition)

Headin' OUT
Photobucket

Spoiling ourselves at Habana, our favorite Cuba eatery
Photobucket

Ham and Cheese in a plantain? Genius. Heaven forbid I even plow through half of that!
Photobucket

This is what a job fair looks like. Yes, I took a pic. How tarty!
Photobucket

Buttoning up!
Photobucket

*Cough* check out this festival.
Photobucket

Walking down the street. Looking, not buying.

Someone's following me!

How to make some sweet walls!

From the curb.

New Home: Austin

It's been a busy month of applying for jobs, scrounging the city for inspirational housing, and interviews.

Here are some photos of what we've been doing in our off time:

More to come soon!

The old goat turned 27....BahhhH!

Photobucket
I made him a shirt with him when he was 4. Or 5. H couldn't remember/count the candles in the pic. It's clearly 4. Come on. First signs of aging already. Tear.

Photobucket
Horacio had a surprise party waiting at his parents'  house. He was a little nervous for what would transpire, so the little whiner got a little wine.

Photobucket
Shades on--look at those flames!

Photobucket

GAH, I hate when I smile like this; I look like such a tool/salesman.

Photobucket
Playing soul/funk music, per usual!

More New York!

Haha...I accidentally uploaded the pix in reverse, so we're doing a end-beginning synopsis. Other photos are on my facebook. If you care to add, let me know! OK so here it is:

Photobucket
This is me looking smart with my NY Times in NY...waiting to get shuttled to La Guardia.

Photobucket
This is Horacio enthralled to be seeing snow for the third time in his lifetime. These seemingly benign flakes "snowballed' into a huge storm that caused our flight to be canceled. Everything worked out cool, so no sweat.
Photobucket
These fancy wieners were at Gray's Papaya, where Horacio was bound and determined to nosh the last night. We walked for blocks...but ran into Jane Fonda en route, so seeing an old celebrity was worth it (My mom and I used to work out to her 80s videos when I was 3).
Photobucket
I'm not going to insult you by explaining this one.
Photobucket
Getting flagged down in Times Square.
Photobucket
Freezing my blocks off on a block; feeding the homeless by the WTC site.
Photobucket
Cool melty guy statue.
Photobucket
I had to take a photo of this, because I find it is the most well-intended, yet awkwardly named sign in history.

Rattin' around in the subway.

Gettin' shady in Chinatown
